The black background in the Predefined Color column corresponds to the "standard"
background color in RasMol. Note that the rendering of the hexadecimal-equivalent colors shown here will depend on your browser, monitor type and settings, etc. Thus, they only approximate how RasMol will render the RGB colors on your computer.
Amino/Shapely Colors
The RasMol amino color scheme colors amino acids according to traditional amino acid properties. The purpose of coloring is to identify amino acids in an unusual or surprising environment. The outer parts of a protein that are polar are visible (bright) colors and non-polar residues darker. Most colors are hallowed by tradition. This color scheme is similar to the Shapely scheme (second table) that is available under the RasMol Colours menu. The nucleosides are also colored differently in this scheme, as shown in the third table.

The black background in the Amino Acids (or Nucleoside) and Color Name columns corresponds to the "standard"
background color in RasMol. Note that the rendering of the hexadecimal-equivalent colors shown here will depend on your browser, monitor type and settings, etc. Thus, they only approximate how RasMol will render the RGB colors on your computer.
These color names are not the ones specified as "Predefined Colors" in RasMol; thus, they can only be specified on the command line as RGB triplets.
